Another hot and bit sticky day but Jane & I thought we had better get a bit more practice in while we had the opportunity, so decided to take the long pretty route to North Petherwin and drop in on Lorna for a cup of tea.
We set off up Underlane, past Gwel Dulas (3.8km), on to Egloskerry, left up to Tresmeer where we paused for a couple of minutes in some shade and drank half our water, that being the point about half way (to North P.). On through Splatt passing the highest point at about 205m, some 130m up from home but much more in total climbing). Fast and bumpy roll down to Canworthy Water then turn right to North Petherwin.
Arrived Beaumont Court at 24.3km av 15.1km/hr to find a) my cycle lock had fallen to bits inside probably thanks to the vibration, and b) Lorna had retired upstairs and was lying abed with nothing on seeking relief from the heat.
Jane got her dressed again to come down and watch the tennis. We didn’t stay long but headed home. Its another 100m climb to get over the ridge between Ottery and Kensey valleys then I let fly on the run down to St. Stephens to peak at 52.5km/hr.
Overall 32.7km at a rolling 15.1km and without the big lunch stop we had last week.
