Another hot and bit sticky day but Jane & I thought we had better get a bit more practice in while we had the opportunity, so decided to take the long pretty route to North Petherwin and drop in on Lorna for a cup of tea. Continue reading “A Little Loop via Lorna”
Out to Lunch
Just a short first warm-up today with Jane in preparation for the Big Ride For Palestine at the beginning of August which we have signed up for.
Over to Roadford and back with a nice very full sandwich and panini in the cafe. Only mistake was missing a turn on the way out and having to climb a 1 in 6 twisty hill – I did have to stop for a breather half way up. Continue reading “Out to Lunch”
And Back Again
So the way home was to follow Miss OSM’s recommended wiggly (and thus longer) way across the New Forest. Aside from that the weather was a degree or two less hot, but still pretty muggy. Continue reading “And Back Again”
At last – back in the saddle
Well only for a day, but at least I have finally got around to getting a halfway decent ride in. Going over to visit mum for the weekend I decided to set off early with the bike in the car and park up about halfway then cycle for the day and finish off with a train to Chichester. Continue reading “At last – back in the saddle”
The ride that didn’t happen.
Today I was supposed to get home having spent last week riding over to visit my mother and then most of the way back with some train sections to speed me along.
However circumstances took control and the plan was stillborn. I got as far as finding the accommodation along the way and planing the route – which interestingly looked hillier than most days in France, Belgium & Germany last autumn – but never actually booked it.

It’s been a while…
Finally, for the first time since returning from Bonn, I managed to get back on Genie. Despite the best intentions I didn’t even get the trainer set up in the conservatory – mostly the excuse was that I was about to be laying the new floor there. And it does seem to have been a very wet winter so every time it wasn’t raining I had more pressing tasks at field or boat. Continue reading “It’s been a while…”

Today we set off from Truro Cathedral, tonight we are on the ferry to France, tomorrow a short ride to Morlaix and a train to Paris. The ride proper starts on Monday.
Do join us at on2bonn.uk and follow the adventure.
Of Bikes on Trains in France (the long way home)
Coming home has involved four very different train journeys with the bike, and a little bit of riding in between. First up was the problem of getting from Le Beausset to Marseille St. Chales station in time for the 10:18 train to Bordeaux on Friday. Of Wildlife
One of the disappointing things about cycling I find is that although you are out in the open you really don’t get to see much flora and fauna. Continue reading “Of Wildlife”
Day 23 – Mallemort to Le Beausset
Time for the final push. Looking at the route options this looked quite different from the flatlands of the west or the rolling countryside of the north. Worse than the Eden Wiggle event that defeated me a few years ago with Sian. (she was far from defeated but kindly stuck with her DaD). Continue reading “Day 23 – Mallemort to Le Beausset”
