BR4P 2021 – Nearly Ready

Only one more Covid test to pass before we set off! Bikes are ready but nothing else.

I can’t promise that I will get much blogging en-route done this year, but I’ll try. The daily route files and stats will appear first on Strava if you happen to use that (you’ll need to “follow” me as I don’t make myself public on there, I think I’m called Roger CO)), but photos and comments will follow here with route maps as and when I get to them.

As in 2018 there are three of us going together from Cornwall – Jane CO, Euan McPhee and myself.

There is a Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tbrcornwall if you would like to give a little something to support sports activities for children in Gaza – a really good aid to dealing with the trauma of living under an illegal apartheid occupying force inflicting random acts of violence and suppression on the civilian population.

The main BR4P site is at https://www.thebigride4palestine.com/ for more detail and links to background info.

A year ago we were restricted to a little local ride (see post below) – this year the main Big Ride is back and we’ll be joining 247 other cyclists at the start. If you happen to be in, or have friends in, Bristol, Swindon, Oxford, or Luton do tell them to come and wave us off in the morning (usually around 09:30) or greet us as we ride into town en-masse. On Thursday that’ll be leaving College Green, Bristol 10am and arriving Regent’s Circus, Swindon between 5:30 and 6pm.

BR4P 2021 Day 4 Luton-London

Full house – now we are 250
After breakfast of yogurt, jam tarts, grapes and tea we collected bikes and assembled for the Grand Depart one last time. Various messages from Palestine were read out, together with the usual notices from the redoubtable Owen and Ceinwen. A few more were joining for the final day and we were now up to full strength at 250 riders, bedecked in Palestinian colours (Black, White, Red and Green).
